Joseph J. Cappelli
Mr. Cappelli is the founder and managing partner of Cappelli Mustin. He is a nationally recognized trial attorney with over twenty years of litigation experience. Mr. Cappelli has successfully litigated and settled hundreds of claims throughout the United States on behalf of people injured by the negligence of others.
In addition to his representation of traumatically injured people, Mr. Cappelli also was instrumental in identifying work place hazards in the rail industry involving exposure to asbestos, chemicals, dangerous noise levels and exposure to non-ergonomic equipment. By identifying the hazards, Mr. Cappelli was able to obtain substantial compensation for those workers adversely affected by the hazards.
Mr. Cappelli is licensed in Pennsylvania and is admitted to multiple federal district courts throughout the country. He has personally handled cases in courtrooms in over twenty states. Mr. Cappelli is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice, the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys and the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Mr. Cappelli received his law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Mark J. Mustin
Mr. Mustin concentrates his practice in personal injury cases including FELA railroad injury claims, product liability, medical negligence and heavy equipment accidents.
Prior to joining Cappelli and Associates as an associate attorney, Mr. Mustin acted as the firm’s senior investigator and was responsible for the investigation of catastrophic and traumatic injuries. Mr. Mustin was credited with the development of a national health screening program specifically for railroad employees. Such screenings included exposure to asbestos products, exposure to toxic solvents, carpal tunnel syndrome as well as occupationally induced hearing loss.
Mr. Mustin earned his law degree from the Widener University School of Law. While at Widener he earned the Certificate of Achievement in Professional Liability and Insurance.
Shawn M. Sassaman
Mr. Sassaman concentrates his practice on FELA cases involving injured railroad workers. Mr. Sassaman focuses on cases involving repetitive stress injuries, occupational hearing loss and asbestos exposure. Other areas of practice include railroad crossing accidents, motor vehicle accidents, product liability, and personal injury.
Mr. Sassaman received his Masters Degree in Government from Lehigh University where he was awarded a Teaching Assistant Scholarship. Prior to Lehigh University, Mr. Sassaman attended the American University Foreign Policy Semester in Washington, D.C. While at American University, Mr. Sassaman served as a Congressional Intern for Congressman Don Ritter. Mr. Sassaman earned his BA from Moravian College majoring in History and Political Science. Mr. Sassaman is also a licensed private pilot.
Mr. Sassaman earned his law degree from Temple University School of Law.
